Fear
come here
enter
my heart
beats fast
the images rise
the possibilities scare
our worst
nightmares
we recoil
from the light
crave a dark touch
and open our heart
acknowledge our fear
it’s near
let these words
draw forth
that truth
sit uncomfortable
with
that emotion
stare fear in the eyes
beady, shining in the night
primal predators
trigger
our fight or flight
we return
to the basic
primitive
our heart rates
calm
fear caught us in its headlights
stilled
as the deer on the road
and we categorize
rationalize
tuck it away
but
it’s real
and now
and quivers
at the ends
of our senses
we are our fears
and our braveries
our worries
and our resolutions
we live
in constant balance
in awareness
in a space
where all is there
so welcome fear
draw open your blinds
sit
pull up a chair
offer tea
and cookies
chat awhile
let your fear
hear the beathing heart
and pass through
again and again
when fear is here.
